Boasting breathtaking scenery and an abundance of wildlife, the Eastern and Burbage Moors has something for everyone!
Uplands shaped by grazing
The landscape thrives through a balance of grazing by our tenant farmers' appropriate livestock breeds and resident red deer herd.
A mosaic landscape
The moors are managed with the grain of nature, with natural processes guiding the rich tapestry of habitats and wildlife.
The Eastern Moors visitor facilities are now closed until further notice. We urge people to stay at home and save lives. Please do not travel.

Totley Powder Store
Work to stabilise the Totley powder store is now complete. The National Trust building team have done a lovely job on the brick work and have kept the original details in place.
Wardens @ Work
Mysterious looking markings have appeared in the grasslands on Big Moor this week. However, there is nothing supernatural going on, just the wardens with the tractor!
Research has shown that our ring ouzels have their own Derbyshire dialect!
Guardians of the Moors
With the help of a three year grant from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF), volunteering on the Eastern Moors is about to get big!
Tell us about your wildlife sightings
